Cheezits are my weakness. As kryptonite was to Superman, Cheezits are my Achilles heel. Salty, savory square inch of awesome. I can eat an entire box…family size (I have no shame).
Since I’m trying to slim down before surgery, I started keeping a food log. Craving my favorite go to snack, I decided to be good and “just” eat a cereal bowl full. Talk about mindless eating… Once devoured, I remembered to hold myself accountable and log what I had eaten.
Here is perception vs. reality slapping me straight across the face:
What I thought I ate: Calories 300 Carbs: 25g Fat: 18g Protein: 6g
What I really ate: Calories: 1500 Carbs: 170g Fat: 80g Protein: 30g
Difference: +1200 +145g +62g +24g
So pretty much shoot me in the face right now.
Horrified that I had basically eaten the equivalent of my entire day’s suggested intake plus some, I knew I had to find a better solution.
Enter Kali, The Baking Goddess
While on a trip through Whole Foods, I came across these parmesan crisps. at $7 per 4oz box (yes, highway robbery, I agree) I decided that I had spent more on less and decided to try them out. 1oz, which equates to one crisp roughly the size of an index card, was 59 calorie, 4 grams of fat, 4 carbs and 6 grams of protein.
I tried one as soon as I got home.
Holy shit. That’s all I can say. These little buggers are absolutely, without a doubt the best thing ever.
They blow Cheezits out of the water, IF you take into account the nutritional difference. If I were hanging over a cliff and had to pick Kali Crisps or Cheezits on deliciousness alone, I would be lying if I didn’t say I’d pick Cheezits. However, considering I am asking for a massive coronary whenever I even get close to a box, Kali Crisps are my new best friend.
As far as I know you can only get them at Whole Foods. And yes, they are worth the $7 if you ask me. I treat them now as a special snack that I enjoy mindfully; indulging in a whole cracker on a good day and maybe two if I’m “stress eating”. My oh my how things have changed!
Do you waistline and taste buds a flavor {haha, pun intended! I’m so funny…) and give Kali Crisps a try.
Oh man I have been off sugar, soda and processed foods since NYE and I don’t crave sugar or soda but every time I walk past Cheezits or Goldfish crackers I have to quickly head out of that isle or I will cave. I will have to try these the next time I am at whole foods.
Same here! I haven’t had soda, sugar, flour, pasta or pretty much any carbs since the beginning of February (so difficult- at least the carbs part). Give the crisps a try they are worth it! Congratulations and kudos to you for your hard work and diligence.

LOVE THIS. I’m a Cheezits freak myself. Going to Whole Foods today to get some based on your review! http://Www.whimpostop.com
Those look delicious! I’ll have to try to find some of these! I mean, I know you can make them, but I’m too lazy. 🙂
